Hylaform

About The Procedure
Hylaform has been described as one of the best instant solutions for facial lines, wrinkles and contouring.

Procedure Description
The clear Hylaform gel is injected using a fine needle. It is injected into the dermis below the wrinkle and lifts the wrinkle out to the desired correction. Hylaform is injected directly into and around the lip for lip enhancements.

Once injected, Hylaform integrates into the dermis and binds water. It does nothing to hinder the normal metabolism and movement of nutrients and oxygen. The amount of Hylaform used during the treatment depends on the desired correction.

Best Candidates for Hylaform Treatment
Candidates must have realistic expectations of the outcome of the surgery. People with wrinkles or facial folds, or those who desire enhancement of lips or other facial features are ideal candidates.

Length of the Procedure
Hylaform treatment usually takes 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Anesthesia
Topical anesthetic may be used with Hylaform treatement.

Inpatient or Outpatient?
Hylaform treatment is performed in a doctor’s office.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the possible side effects from Hylaform treatment include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and raised bumps of the skin.

Recovery
Over time, Hylaform is gradually reabsorbed without a trace. For this reason, follow up treatments are needed to maintain your results at 6 to 12 month intervals. Immediately after the treatment, patients can expect slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days.

Duration of Results
Hylaform treatment results are immediate.

Risks
Since Hylaform is an animal by-product, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons warns that the risk of allergic reaction is slightly greater than for Restylane. But the risk is still considered low.

Cost
Expect to pay $400 to $600 per Hylaform treatment.
