Feather LiftAbout The Procedure As an alternative to the traditional facelift that involves the removal of skin, fat and tissue, the Feather Lift technique uses barbed threads to pull skin tighter without cutting.
Procedure Description The Feather Lift technique involves the use of suture like threads made from a special bio compatible material. These threads, with tiny spikes their entire length, are inserted under the skin at different angles to fill out and lift the sagging skin.
Best Candidates for a Feather Lift The Feather lift is well suited to patients aged between 30 and 45 with fairly good skin elasticity but beginning to notice the affects of the years, even those with moderate sagging, jowls, sun damage or hollow cheeks. Patients with very loose or "scraggy" neck, are not suitable. The limitations of a featherlift are that the procedure merely redistributes existing skin to create more even contours, whereas a facelift removes the excess tissue and is longer lasting.
Length of the Procedure The Feather Lift procedure takes 45 minutes to one hour.
Anesthesia A Feather Lift is performed under local anesthesia or a local anethstic cream is applied to the treatment site.
Inpatient or Outpatient? A Feather Lift is performed on an outpatient basis.
Possible Side Effects There may be minimal swelling and sensitivity in the treated area. There is also a chance of bruising after a Feather Lift.
Recovery After the Feather Lift the patient may return to work as early as the next day. It is important to avoid excessive facial movement, rubbing, or massaging of the treated areas for the first 2 to 3 weeks.
Duration of Results The duration of Feather Lift results vary by individual but 3 to 5 years is typical.
Cost Expect to pay $3,000 to $6,000 for a Feather Lift.
Scars The Feather Lift technique results in no scars.
